Yew Tree Cottage

Once an old farm and farmhouse, lovingly renovated into the beautiful country retreat we now call Yew

Tree Cottage, this is a place designed for rest, discovery, and connection with nature

Yew Tree Cottage is nestled in the heart of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, within the idyllic hamlet of Carey. Set opposite a vineyard and close to the River Wye, it enjoys a wonderfully peaceful setting while being perfectly placed between the market town of Ross-on-Wye and the cathedral city of Hereford.

Canoe hire, a local cider factory, public footpaths, and scenic walks are all close by,

offeringendless opportunities to explore the area.

The cottage is surrounded by three acres of private woodland, brimming with mystery, wildlife, and

quiet corners waiting to be discovered.

Hidden within the woods you’ll find a swing, hammocks, fir pits, and a charming wine shack — the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine as the sun sets over the surrounding farmland. The woods are yours to wander at your own pace, with nature and wildlife right on your doorstep.

To the rear of the house is a spacious patio with a BBQ, tables, and seating areas, overlooking the lawn and the rolling fields of the Wye Valley — an ideal place for relaxed outdoor dining or simply

soaking in the views.

Just a four-minute walk away is the wonderful 15th-century Cottage of Content, a much-loved local

inn. Whether you choose to fully embrace the tranquility of this rural retreat or venture out to explore the surrounding counties, Yew Tree Cottage offers the perfect base. I’ve also put together a helpful guide for you to browse at your leisure, highlighting the very best the area has to offer.

Step inside and you’re immediately wrapped in the warmth and character of a true country home. Exposed wooden beams, soaring barn-style ceilings, and a grand open fireplace — filled with logs sourced from our own woodland — create a wonderfully inviting space to relax and unwind. Original stone walls and carefully preserved details give the cottage a timeless, storybook feel.

A beautiful turret staircase spirals gently upwards, leading to a cosy and peaceful bedrooms each with sweeping views across rolling farmland and open countryside. From the windows, field after field drifts into the distance, offering a sense of calm and space that’s hard to find elsewhere.
